“Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with the endurance the race that is set before us.’’
Have you ever felt the need for you to give counsel to someone, but you are so afraid to do it because she/he might question your way of life? Instead of giving a piece of advice to that person, you will just choose to not say anything at all.
God knows that people around us will always keep an eye on us. That’s why His words are always reminding us to be careful with whatever we’re doing because He knows that people believe in what they see. They will judge us based on how we live our lives. They will believe us if we prove things to them.
God always wants His people to follow His examples; He wants us to live the way He lived so we can draw people to Him. 2nd Thessalonians 3:9 “ not because we do not have authority, but to make ourselves an example of how you should follow us.”
We want our loved ones to be saved. If we really love them, we need to sacrifice ourselves as what Jesus did. No matter how much we want to follow the ways of this world, we should ask God to give us enough courage to fight all the temptations around us. Christians should always aim to live their lives the way Jesus did. James 1:12 “ Blessed is the man who endures temptation; for when he has been proved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him.’’
Lord, we know that we are weak. We always want to follow ourselves. Help us to always fight all the temptations that will come our way. Give us enough strength to follow Your ways. We thank you for always reminding us that we need to focus on You and for reminding us that we need to be compassionate with people by drawing them to You as what You did to us. We need You in our lives and we want to be with You in eternity. We love You.
In Jesus’ Name, we pray. Amen.
