2nd Thessalonians 3:12-16
“Now those who are such we command and exhort through our Lord Jesus Christ that they work in quietness and eat their own bread. But as for you, brethren, do not grow weary in doing good. And if anyone does not obey our word in this epistle, note that person and do not keep company with him, that he may be ashamed. Yet do not count him as an enemy, but admonish him as a brother.’’
Oftentimes, we feel that the more we are with someone, the more we adopt their culture or their habits. God knows that people are designed like this, that’s why He warned us not to yoke with unbelievers. God doesn’t want us to go back to our old selves.
God said in His words that we need to be careful with the persons around us. He knows that it’s either we influence them or they’ll influence us. He loves us so much that He doesn’t want His children to be deceived with the ways of this world. He wants to preserve us to be with Him in eternity. – 2nd Thessalonians 3:3 “ But the Lord is faithful, who will establish you and guard you from the evil one.
We should always be aware of who we are with and do our best to help our friends to follow us, not us following them. We should always be careful with our actions, that whenever they see us, they will see Christ in us. In that way, we can’t just tell them how to live their lives but our actions will speak for us. – 2nd Thessalonians 2:14 “ to which He called you by our gospel, for the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
Lord, we thank You for Your words. Thank You that You let Yourself known to us. Guard our hearts and spirit that we will live always according to your will. Guard us from the people around us, teach us not to judge them but to love them and have the courage to draw them near to You as what You did to us. Help us not to be blinded by the ways of this world but always put in our hearts the desire to be with You in eternity. Help us to be always faithful to You. We love You.
In Jesus’ Name, we pray. Amen.
